Welcome to Taiohi Toa

Taiohi Toa Trust is a registered charitable trust working in partnership with Hamilton Police Youth Development.

Our purpose is to provide and deliver effective programmes along with individual/family case management aimed at reducing offending, victimisation, and creating safe communities.

Staff, encourage and support their clients in identifying the risks that have led to their involvement in negative/antisocial behaviour. The strengths of the young person and their whanau are identified and strengthened, whilst supporting and providing resources, education and mentoring.

Alternative Action

This initiative provides early intervention to address the causes of offending whilst developing the strengths of the young person.

Big Brothers
Big Sisters Tuakana Teina

A community based mentoring programme, encouraging young people to see value in themselves, building strength and hope for their future through a supportive mentoring relationship.

CACTUS

We aim to connect with young people, increasing their self-worth and self-belief through an 8 week programme of increasingly challenging physical activities.

Case Management

Referrals of medium/high risk offenders are taken from the Police Youth Aid section and a staff member is appointed to work intensively with the youth and their family to address the causes of offending.
